AIFD represents Türkiye on international platforms as a member of EFPIA (European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations) and IFPMA (International Federation of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers and Associations). Our Association also continues to work closely with PhRMA (American Pharmaceutical Researchers and Manufacturers Association), a highly influential international trade non-governmental organization in the USA. Aiming to use these international connections to contribute to the development of our country, our Association holds a strategy meeting once a year with the participation of EFPIA and PhRMA representatives to discuss developments, problems, and opportunities in the pharmaceutical industry. As a result of these meetings and taking into account global trends, we aim to develop new solutions for the further development of the sector and the economy in Türkiye.
On November 22, 2022, we held an online Joint Strategy Session (JSS) where, as every year, we discussed the prominent issues and strategic priorities for 2023 in our three main work areas, namely Innovation Policies, Health Science Policies and Health Economics Policies. As a result of these discussions, strategic priorities for 2023 were decided under the 3 work areas. The activities identified as priorities under the Innovation Policies area are as follows:
1. To ensure that Türkiye becomes a leading country in the region in clinical research
2. Startup and entrepreneurship ecosystem
3. Mutual Recognition Agreements (MRA)
4. Intellectual Property Rights (IPR)
5. Sustainability/Climate
6. Health tourism
