AIFD HEP SMC regular monthly meetings took place as planned in June and July 2021. AIFD headline goal, strategic priorities, key outcomes for governance from AIFD Strategy Workshop, internal working principles, 2021 HEP SMC projects/initiatives and previous works of the SMC were discussed. Ensuring access to innovation and securing a sustainable pricing model are the two strategic priorities directly related to the SMC. AIFD HEP SMC hold a Strategy Workshop in July to define SMC specific priorities and to propose an engagement plan.
Ensuring Access to Innovation

Action Plans
- Proactively lead COVID-19 agenda
- Together with Stakeholders look for improving the ecosystem solutions
- Develop and ensure application of principles for a good reimbursement process management
- Health Industries Presidency: Influence this new institution to lead for sustainable outcomes for government, patients as well as the industry
- Advocacy:
- Constructing alliances with key medical community members who would defend modern medicine and innovative pharmaceuticals
- Expand engagement on establishing a common ground for funding

- Ensure sustainability of access of patients to innovation for the future – price confidentiality
Action plans
- Continue to create sense of urgency around the FX topic NOW in a continuous manner on continuation/improvement of FX adjustment by leveraging other stakeholders
- Explore with the government on a predictable model considering time to market for medicines
- Explore feasibility of confidential pricing
- Advocacy: Raise the awareness on “why the regulation is not sustainable for the industry in terms of bringing new products to the patients”
- Leverage an Advisory Board for advocacy with Ankara
- Continuously raise awareness of the costs to the public/patients
- Leverage benchmark countries on access and benchmark with other innovation that Turkish citizens are “accessing”
AIFD HEP SMC Strategy Workshop
HEP SMC hold a Strategy Workshop to define SMC specific priorities and to propose an engagement plan. Four areas of focus were speeding up the reimbursement process, globalproof, sustainable pricing model, patient centric & fact-based reimbursement decision making and evidence-based & impactful advocacy.
HEP SMC members discussed and answered the questions below. The outcomes of the workshop are to be presented to the Board members.
